A fantastic opportunity is available for an Communications Senior Manager, NA Health BU to join our Communications team.


Located in our New Jersey headquarters, this position will be a part of the North America Corporate Communications team ensuring the company's messages are aligned and delivered in accordance with RB’s global vision. The ideal candidate will, at different times, be a communications strategist, business thought-partner, writer, and project manager. As a key member of the communications team the primary goal is delivering results in a fast-paced and dynamic environment.


Reporting to the Head of Corporate Communications for North America, this individual will be responsible for a variety of communication activities for a wide range of issues including proactive corporate communications and internal employee communications to support RB and its healthcare brands including Durex, Enfamil, Mucinex, Airborne and Clearasil, while supporting corporate reputation and issues management through public affairs and public relations activities.


This role will be heavily focused on external communications channels and strategies surrounding corporate and brand reputation, sustainability, issues management and public affairs.


Key Responsibilities:

  • Serve as one of the company’s senior corporate communications experts offering strategic counsel to executives and educating business partners on public facing communications that impact the firm’s reputation.
  • Gain positive media coverage on the company’s corporate partnerships and initiatives through measurable proactive and reactive media relations, and serve as a back-up PR expert for other corporate and business unit (brand) efforts.
  • Responds to media inquiries regarding company affairs, initiatives, stores and positions on wide range of issues, and represents the company as an official spokesperson; coordinates positioning and messaging strategy with key stakeholders.
  • Support internal and external communications around RB’s Health portfolio; work in partnership with brand directors (e.g. Durex, Enfamil, Mucinex, Airborne, MegaRed) on activities to advance portfolio of RB Health products; 
  • Operate as the lead contact for Global PR, Internal and all Central Health Business Unit Communications, including briefing and aligning announcement programming, business and best practices share outs, and sharing RB news for a variety of internal audiences.
  • Manage sustainability efforts in North America

Key Focus Areas:

  • Corporate Reputation
    • Utilizing knowledge of the healthcare industry, lead strategy development and oversee the execution of integrated internal and external communications programs and campaigns that extend awareness of RB’s position as a global healthcare leader and promote the company’s thought leadership.
    • Collaborate with global teams to ensure consistency of messages and alignment to broader corporate goals and objectives, while developing new initiatives that differentiate RB and its health portfolio of products and programs from competitors.
    • Serve as point of contact for RB Health’s North American corporate social responsibility partnerships and lead corporate CSR efforts.
    • Expand RB’s North American social media presence to drive brand awareness, promote corporate culture, support recruiting and other corporate initiatives.
    • Manage public relations agencies, design firms and other outside organizations in support of corporate communications strategies 
  • Issues Management:
    • Support executive teams and other corporate functions to proactively define RB’s policy positions to manage reputational issues and mitigate risk in North America.
    • Lead RB’s reactive response to corporate reputational issues, particularly in the areas of infant formula and child nutrition.
    • Effectively prepare and train spokespeople for media and other external stakeholder interviews.

  • Aggressively promoting RB Health business unit and portfolio of products while aligning to broader RB business goals, initiatives and messages
  • Proactively identifying potential issues that could impact the health business unit and portfolio of products and preparing internal stakeholders to get ahead of potential situations

Is this You?

  • 10+ years of communications experience in the healthcare, pharmaceutical, biotech or infant food and child nutrition (IFCN) industries, with proven expertise in brand management, reputation management, public affairs, internal communications, issues/crisis, executive visibility and thought leadership programs.
  • Experience working as a regional lead for a multinational organization headquartered outside the US a plus.
  • Bachelor’s degree required, MBA preferred.
  • Outstanding written and verbal communications skills.
  • Demonstrated success in corporate communications with emphasis on collaborating with multi-national teams and programs.
  • Experience in proactive and reactive issues management and crisis communications, preferably with a healthcare-focused organization.
  • Expertise in advising senior leadership through corporate crises, social media issues, product recalls, labor issues, customer service issues, management changes, litigation, and other special situations
  • Experience with industry organizations and regulatory bodies (ie: FDA).
  • Excellent communication skills (written, oral, and interpersonal), with a keen understanding of press relations and how to balance messaging and company priorities as a spokesperson
  • Strong presentation capabilities, can communicate upward and laterally, informing partners well and with ease
  • Independent thinker, values the capabilities and work quality of a team, has a strong understanding of internal and external clients and needs/priorities
  • Self-starter, action-oriented, resourceful, can take a project or program from start to completion
  • Charisma, thinks on the fly, can balance personality and professional perspective with business objectives and priorities
  • An entrepreneurial spirit and drive, with ability to build programs and campaigns from concept through execution.
  • Passion for fostering talent and managing teams; ability to nurture entrepreneurial spirit in colleagues at all levels.
