Role Purpose:
 

You will play a key role in managing the full financial budget within shared services. You will ensure adherence of shared service process to the Global Financial Control framework, providing an appraisal of the adequacy and effectiveness of internal controls in the financial and operational areas of FSS.   You will ensure ongoing effectiveness of KPI, process controls and drive consistent application of control activities in both FSS’ UK and India Operations. The role will work closely with the FSS Pillar Leads, 3rd Party Outsourced Provider (Genpact), the Global Internal Control Team as well as RB Internal Audit department. This role also exposes you to very senior stakeholders including the CFO.

 
 
Scope:
 
  • The role leads the FSS Controllership function managing the full financial cycle of closing activities, budget and projections. Provides analysis on viability of business cases on new shared service deployments, major transformation projects and process improvement initiatives within the pillar.
  • The role will be an effective business partner within FSS and Genpact to implement and maintain a set of effective and efficient Internal Controls throughout the operations and services provided. 
  • The role will be responsible for all internal and external audits and drive immediate remediation.
 
 
Accountabilities:
 
  • Continue to develop and drive the implementation of RB’s Global Financial Control Framework across FSS’ Operations, both Captive and Outsourced
  • Take ownership for coordination of reviews undertaken by RB Internal Audit and Global Internal Controls Team  
  • To prepare and agree summary reports of internal control findings and ensure that practical and effective remediation plans are established for internal control deficiencies identified
  • Drive KPI’s reporting and provide regular updates on operational controls performance to the FSS Leadership Team, market stakeholders and escalate possible critical issues, as appropriate.   
  • Help to identify areas of potential risk and opportunities for improvement given changes within the operational environment (new deployments).  Support, where appropriate, the implementation of new internal controls to manage these risks and opportunities
  • Ensure that Segregation of Duties and conflicts are managed appropriately with mitigation controls in place as necessary 
  • Lead the business cases for all FSS projects, within remit, as may be required by the Pillar Leads or Global shared service Director 
  • Ensure spend is within plan and highlight risks and opportunities.  Drive the full financial cycle within RB including but not limited to close, projections, budget. 
 
 
Key Challenges:
 
  • To bring Process Controls to the front-of-mind across FSS captive and outsourced centres
  • To add value to the business through process control improvements 
  • Ensure outsourced suppliers that are providing services are compliant with Internal Audit and Internal Controls requirements
 
 
Skills & Experience Required:
 
  • Demonstrable understanding of finance close and management planning.
  • Demonstrable understanding of business processes, internal controls and shared services best practice
  • Strong leadership capability, executing as appropriate in the areas of responsibility
  • Collaborative with peers and colleagues to drive involvement and engagement 
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills, including the ability to establish rapport and persuade others
  • Ability to work under pressure and meet deadlines
  • Ability to think ahead and anticipate problems, issues and solutions
 
 
Technical / Professional Qualifications Required:
 
  • Educated to minimum Bachelor’s degree level in a technical or commercial subject 
  • A qualified accountant, internal auditor or audit professional with >3 years post qualification experience. Experience in a Shared Services environment preferred
  • The business language in RB is English, therefore fluency in English is essential and fluency in local languages advantageous 
  • Experience working in remote / virtual global teams
  • Flexible to travel, as required (up to 30%) 
  • Proven experience of business partnering with other functional areas
  • Ability to work in a complex, matrix organisation with a global scope

Travel Requirements:
